In 2010, four Fringes in the Midwest—Kansas City, Minnesota (Minneapolis-St. Paul), Indianapolis and Chicago—are offering producers the chance to create a tour with one simple application. Four slots in each festival are reserved for the Midwest Fringe circuit.
Lottery key: Full list of applicants with lottery ID numbers
A lottery I.D. number has been assigned to each applicant (see the attached PDF to follow along at home). Each I.D. number is written on a ping-pong ball and all 57 balls are tossed into a lovely container.
First, we’ll draw four —the lucky winners of the circuit slots. These four are guaranteed production slots in all four Fringes. Producers must abide by each festival’s rules; fully complete and return each festival’s standard applications; and submit any application and production fees by each festival’s deadlines. Producers who fail to complete applications or to pay fees on time forfeit their production slots.
Second, we’ll draw four more ping-pong balls. These are on a temporary waiting list; if for any reason a winning company withdraws from its circuit slot by 5 p.m. Central on January 20, we’ll offer that open slot to the company on top of the Midwest circuit’s waiting list. After January 20, each festival will fill any vacancies by whatever process they normally use to plug holes in the schedule.
Companies that are NOT drawn for the circuit are welcome (and encouraged!) to apply to each Fringe individually.
